Can't seem to get my machine to pull down updates.

  1. I've got my SUS setup with all updates syncd and those updates made available in the main branch.
  2. The hostname resolves forward/reverse
  3. I've set the local machines prefs with defaults write
  4. Software update run via GUI and command line returns no updates available

I've tried using the catalog path listed in the docs, and I've tried using the catalog path listed in the SUS itself.

The only thing that I've noticed is that if I load the catalog path in my browser, the xml makes references to the original netsus setup:

http://netsus.local//content/downloads/...

New catalogs cotain that same path as well.

I'm guessing I went out of order on a step here- maybe this is the result?

I've deleted my catalogs, and then set my SUS not to hold onto the updates. I'm now seeing the updates properly, though bypassing the internal SUS to get them.

I wish I could replicate your issue, but I'm also only using the SUS appliance as a holder of the catalog, not of the updaters themselves. I don't have any issues getting Software Update.app to correctly report that there are available updates for any systems that need them in this type of setup (how you set your SUS up second time around)
However, I'd imagine there are plenty of folks using the NetSUS as a full Software Update repository with no problems.
