WinXP on iMac late 2011 i5

I have successfully installed Window XP SP3 on the Late 2011 iMac. (how and why are not important at this stage).
I have created a winclone clone and attached the image to a Casper image.
When I restore and boot on the windows partition it BSOD.
I have tried using a clean install/added drivers/run chkdsk and many other suggestions found on the net (once you shift through the inevitable "Why not use windows 7" or "Why do you want to use windows at all" comments.)
Any suggestions from people that have succeeded with this are most welcome.
