Hi,

It would be really useful to have more functionality and flexibility in regards to updating macOS. We currently enforce automatic updates via a configuration profile but the majority of users avoid doing this.

We also force updates via the "Devices > Updates" menu. It would be really helpful to be able to bulk select devices with different OS-versions from a device group and tell them all to update. In an ideal world we would be able to schedule these updates using policies.

Maintaining up-to-date operating systems is obviously crucial in preventing vulnerabilities that cybercriminals may exploit for cyber attacks and it is one of the easiest to mitigate. As an educational institute we do not have a lot of budget to spend on other systems capable of doing this and we struggle with the time required to go through the  "Devices > Updates" menu as it currently stands.

Thanks very much in advance.

The new feature Jamf Software Update, which is currently in beta should address most of your concerns.

There are some limitation:
Force install date is only supported for computers with macOS 14 or later and mobile devices with iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later. Computers and mobile devices not meeting these criteria will not receive an update.

@jt350 I believe this is a Jamf Pro feature, not a Jamf School feature.
