Acrobat 9.4.0 Update Breaking SelfHeal Fix (Jody Rodgers)

Hi All,

We're still a little new to the Mac's here at FDA and this is the first time we are updating Adobe Acrobat. We're running 9.3.1 now and trying to update to 9.4. We've tried various things to try and accomplish this to no avail::

- Just running the DMG's that we downloaded from Adobe. - Tried updating directly to 9.4 as well as updating incrementally through each version update - Each time Casper shows a success but the version doesn't update on the target machine

- Re-building the DMG by having Acrobat 9.3.1 installed capturing the state of the machine in composer then installing the updates, then capturing the changes - Tried this both with a Normal Snapshot as well as New and Modified snapshot creating a DMG to deploy - Again when we deployed this Caper showed success but the target machine was not updated

Aside of the self heal issues you are seeing how are you all deploying the package so that it is updating Acrobat for you?

Thanks for your help.

I use a Python script developed by Greg Neagle over at the Managing OSX blog
(
http://managingosx.wordpress.com/2010/01/06/silent-installs-for-acrobat-pro-9-updates/)..) Basically, my steps are as follows:

  1. Create a BASH script that calls the Python script for each updater that
    I need to install.

  2. Create a Composer package that includes all of the updaters along with
the Python script folder inside /Library.

  3. Add that package and the BASH script to Casper Admin.

  4. Create a policy that deploys the package and runs the BASH script as an
    After script.

Aside from the Self Heal issue that I started this thread with, I've had no
issues since starting to use this method of deploying patches to Acro 9.

Hope that helps.
