Best practice for updating to the latest IOS

being new to JAMF I’ve not gone through a major IOS update yet, but I’m trying to prepare for this one coming in the near future. When doing a major IOS update like going from 4 to 5 after the install and restore form the created backup will the iDevice need to be re-enrolled into the JSS server?

If this is the case how has this been handled in the past? If I leave it up to the end users to do, then I’m sure not all the devices would get enrolled back into the JSS right away. But, they would all start calling me when they realized they no longer have email on the device.

I just don’t want this to turn into a “wild west” where everybody is just doing it their own way with ten different outcomes. I would like to get some documents put together and send out and see if this can’t be done in away that is a pleasant experience for both sides.

If you have any suggestions or would like to share your process for doing this I would appreciate it a lot.
