creation time on nbi

so, it has been like a year or so since I last updated our NBI (literally it was last summer) and I forgot how long this process takes. It has been going on for about 4+ hours now and is maybe 1/8th finished. This sound about right? I remember it taking long every time I do it, but I thought it went faster previous times.

thanks,

tom

Are you using the Casper NBI creator? It never takes me that long to create

an NBI. I usually take an OS DMG that I create with InstaDMG and then run

What machine are you running this on? Are you only putting in an OS DMG, or
a fat image?

I added some apps to the install this time, like Disk Warrior and some Apple diag tools to run off of Netboot. I then FW TDM booted the mac I wanted to create the image from and used disk utility to create an image. I wanted to add some apps this time, but I guess I can always create it, then mount it as read/write and then drag and drop apps I want to add

That shouldn't be enough to cause a 4 hr NBI creation. Strange. Try

logging in as "root" on the machine and running everything under that login. See if that does it. I generally will run it that way just so I don't have
to worry about authentication dialogs popping up. I use that method when
compiling configs in Casper Admin too.

Well I think it is definitely Monday. I was building this on my MBP which has a boot partition and one for data and I think when the NBI expanded I ran out of HD space.....yeah so uh, forget this email maybe...Gonna do it on my iMac now.
