El Capitan AD bound machines not updating OperatingSystem field in AD

We've noticed that El Capitan AD bound machines are not updating OperatingSystem field in AD. Previous versions of OS X did this.

Any idea what might have changed?

What version of AD? I'm noticing the same thing with a 10.11.4. We're a "2008 R2" functional domain level. In fact the computer still reports itself as 10.10.5 Granted, this computer was upgraded in place, but after a few weeks that information should have updated in AD one would imagine. Maybe the issue is on Apple's end though.

Is this for a fresh AD record or re-joining to an existing record? We saw this last year, systems being rejoined to AD would not update the OS field (this was with 10.10). They would only write that field if it was creating a new AD record.

Has anyone tried renewing a kerberos ticket on one of these machines? Perhaps it only updates when it gets a new ticket.
