Exporting/Importing JSS Database

Not applicable

Our JSS server was used for some testing prior to the Casper installation at
our site, and has a custom-rolled installation of MySQL (leaving the
original installation intact). When Casper was installed this compiled MySQL
was used rather than the baked in one. This is currently causing us issues
when we reboot the server since the wrong MySQL is started up, leaving the
JSS unreachable until we manually stop the baked-in MySQL and start our own.

We *could* hunt down and modify the StartupItem to start the correct MySQL
installation, but we'd rather fix the original mistake and have a standard
installation. That, of course, would involve exporting the current database
and importing it with the correct MySQL running.

I just want to verify that these would be the correct steps (hopefully
someone on the list has done this or something similar previously that can
comment):

  1. Launch JSS Setup Utility and connect to JSS server
  2. Go to 'Servers & Services/Database/Troubleshooting/Backup Database'
  3. Save database to local Desktop
  4. Stop current MySQL process and start built-in MySQL
  5. Launch JSS Setup Utility and connect to the JSS server
  6. Start the JSS and select "The JSS components are already..."
  7. Go to 'Servers & Services/Database/Troubleshooting/Backup Database'
  8. Click "Restore Backup" and select saved database backup

That *should* be it, if I understand things correctly. I'm a little iffy on
step 6. Should we let the JSS Setup Utility reinstall the commponents? It
doesn't seem like that would be necessary.

Anything else we should be wary of or need to do? Thanks for your input.
