Integrating 5th and 6th Generation iPads with JamfPro

I have recently secured some unused iPads in our environment previously enrolled in JamfNow and wondering if it is worth enrolling them in JamfPro or just getting new devices (9th Gen or newer).

Does anyone know when support or ADE will not be available for 5th and 6th generation iPads with JamfPro?

Thanks!

Jamf already supports automated device enrollment with iPadOS. If there is any limitation on functionality it will be on the iPads side, the 5th gen iPad supports up to iPadOS 16, and the 6th gen iPad supports up to iPadOS 17; current is iPadOS 18.

iPadOS 15 is the minimum supported by Jamf, so whatever MDM features are available to iPadOS 16 and 17 are fully supported by Jamf which would include Automated Device Enrollment.

Considering the 5th and 6th gen iPads don’t support iPadOS 18, I suggest replacing them as they are end of life. At this point I do not recommend the 9th gen, you need to go 10th gen or newer due to the 9th gen already being 4 years old.
