I was reading the release note and this caught my eye as my master distro is hosted on Windows Server 08 r2...

? [D-005612] Casper Admin fails to compile configurations if the master distribution point is a file share distribution point hosted on Windows Server.

Anyone upgrade their JSS that has a Windows file server as their master distro?

Mark,
Thanks for the link. After taking a look at it, I realized I misunderstood the known issue. The compile configuration is for using casper to image Macs?

[D-005954] A policy fails to run again if computer running the policy loses its internet connection and then regains the connection.

Not listed as known or fixed, but still outstanding. Casper is unusable until this is fixed.
This is from the December 2013 Encompass Casper Suite Defect report.

I have lots of computers that loose their connection and then report later when they reconnect, problem is half of them need to submit their inventory so it shows up as failed because it could not submit the inventory. It would be nice if when it got to the inventory step, it would check for the server and wait for it to return before attempting such.

@nessts The defect is impacting our ability to deploy software (failed pushes). Worked with JAMF support, now we're at the "wait and see" stage, waiting for the fix.

yeah, i see that, but since I cache the packages about a week before i am allowed to push, i just keep resetting the failures once a day and eventually everybody gets there. Most people are on the network long enough to get the update on the first try. Some people i think try to keep their computer off the network as much as possible to prevent the update from downloading sometimes :)
I don't know about unusable, but definitely would be nice if package download used rsync and could restart itself better until complete.

I guess the term "unusable" depends on the circumstances. We can't push software with it until the issue is resolved.

We can use Casper for everything else, since the rest works. :)

What version was this a known issue from?

Open since 9.21, still an open defect.

@bentoms Thanks for the link! Yeah, thats something we don't use. I think I'm going to pull the trigger and update my JSS

Are these policies set to run once? I have never seen the issue where a policy will fail to run again, even if the network connection drops halfway through.

@colonelpanic It's happening to different policies. Small ones pushing an installer. Large ones that cache (and presumably resume download if disrupted). We troubleshooted with JAMF engineers, the resolution was to wait for the defect to be fixed.
