We have just got in a new MBP w/ Thunderbolt i/o that I cannot get to
Netboot to our Netboot image. The Netboot image consists of a retail
install of 10.6 w/ the combo updater of 10.6.7. It will show the spinning
globe but then kernel panics. Any suggestions? I am relatively new to the
whole Netboot and creating Casper Images. Thanks for all your help.

I should mention the netboot image was create using Casper Admin to compile
the image.

Jeff-

Use the OS that came on the new MBP to create a new netboot image.

I don't have any of those MBPs, but there was discussion on the list when

they came out about this exact issue. You'll need to create a new NBI using
one of these new MBPs to create the image. Unfortunately, Apple forked the
10.6.7 updater into two: one for the MBPs with Thunderbolt, and one for
everything else.

However, if you create a new NBI using the new MBP, that NBI will be able to
boot everything prior too.

Create the Netboot Image using the latest Hardware. In this case it would be the Early 2011 Macbook Pro. This will boot anything else below it as well.

Jeff,

The 10.6.7 combo updater was for all systems - except the new MBP's. The timing for the update was such that we had to create a parallel updater to cover the MBP. You should create a unique netboot image for the MBP's using the disk it shipped with plus the Mac OS X v10.6.7 Update for early 2011 MacBook Pro

One (unsupported) thing you could try is to use the MBP disk, add both combo updaters to it, and create a netboot image from that.

I have my netboot accessible from all systems. I am using Diskless Netboot hosted on a Windows Machine (Netbooting access via MacMini).

We are successfully netbooting all Intel model Macs by using the special
build of 10.6.6 that came with the new thunderbold model Macs. For us, that
has avoided the 10.6.7 fork between models.
