Open Directory Network Mount on Login

We are currently using Open Directory network accounts for our student logins and home folders. I would like to change it so that we still use the Open Directory authentication for logging in, and then the students' documents would be on a mounted network location.

I created a Casper configuration profile that creates mobile accounts that do not sync. I would prefer to have a unique network folder created for each user named with their username. Is this something that I can do with "Network Mount" in the "Login Items" part of a configuration profile? Is there some kind of variable that I can put in the "Network Mount" text box that will retrieve the logged in username and put it at the end of the folder path? Or is this sounding like something I need to try and do with scripts?

Thanks in advance for any help and direction you can provide!
