I know this is pretty much admin 101... but we're having some issues managing screen savers via OD/mcx for 10.4, 10.5 & 10.6 clients (our OD servers are10.5 only atm).... & I'm having a mental blank..
Basically, some clients are getting the correct lock downs.. others are not.. & I'm wondering if Casper could offer us a better alternative.. one that will work across platforms..
I'm also thinking that this could be a self-healing package, or an offline script...
Can anyone help point me in the right direction..
Like I said, it works for some accounts.. weirdly these accounts seem to have been moved from 10.4 > 10.5 > 10.6 macs.. so they're having the 'old' 10.4/10.5 settings working on a 10.6 machine.. but when you log them in as a new account these settings do not enforce the screen saver... weird..

Yep.. looks like there is two..
One for askforpassword (sits in users library)..
One byhost for idletime (sits in byhosts folder in users lib, the byhost is based on the machines UUID..)..
So quite a change..

We've been using the built-in MCX template for screen saver locking and it seems to stick just fine. Not sure if MCX over-rides any sort of byhost prefs though…
