Sending a DEP iPhone on repair to Apple.

Apple have a strict policy that they don't repair iPhones that are bound to a MDM tool.
So I'm wondering what i need to do in Jamf?
This to be sure that Apple won't return my iPhone when i send it for screen repalcement?

I've read the documentation on unmanage and delete device and also unassign a device from a DEP profile.
But i remember from the introduction that there was one thing you should not do, becasue that would casue the iPhone to become unsupervised and you would not be able to get it supervised again.

So what sequence should I do things in? And which option should i stay away from?

Cheers!

Hi Eddie,

If you just unassign a device in DEP you will be fine. When you get it back from repair, re-assign it back to your MDM server.

Make sure you don't disown it, that will prevent you from managing it through DEP going forward.

I brought our DEP device into the Apple Store for repair and they just asked that it was past the setup steps and had no passcode on it. I just excluded it from all our configurations.

They seemed fine with it.
