I thought I had seen this very discussion on the list a few weeks or months
ago, and I was right. If you go back to the list archive on the JAMF site,
or if you have all of the emails still (like I do), search for a string
titled: "Anyone done any UI scripting? Stuck on AppleScript UI scripting".
Robert Hammen laid out a great AppleScript for configuring the VPN that uses
an exported config file to do the work. This would help in getting the
input from the user to set the user name and adding the VPN config.
The only two things I haven't gotten this script to do, and I honestly
haven't invested a lot of time to it, is to: a) name the config something
special like "Your Company VPN", instead it is named VPN (L2TP), and b) in
the Advanced window check the "Send all traffic" box. Otherwise, it does
just what I need.
