I got a call on Friday about a shipment of i5/i7 27" iMacs that won't boot from our existing 10.6.2 NetBoot image. I called JAMF and was told to follow the usual, update the iMac totally, then go Target Disk Mode and use Composer to create a DMG of the iMac, then NetInstall Creator 3.1 to convert the DMG to NetInstall image that'll include Casper Imaging app.
Well, both of the iMacs freeze when trying to update, whether we install the 10.6.3 combo update, or even if we run Software Update locally. As a test, we tried to boot from the bundled discs, but both iMacs freeze on reboot. We have a hardware guy running diagnostics (I assume he has recent versions of his hardware diagnostics discs that'll boot these iMacs).
In the mean time, wanted to see if anyone else is having these kinds of issues with the late 2009 i5/i7 27" iMacs? If so, have you been able to somehow work around the issue?
