I've done something similar using AppleScript. Once written and
confirmed working I then packaged it as a .app and then deployed it to a
users desktop. When they launched it it would then attempt to connect to
the smb share and then prompt for creden...
I've also been receiving this same KSInstallAction error stating a hash
mismatch. Doesn't matter if I script the install/update of Chrome or if
I package it manually using Composer. Once it tries to check for updates
or fetch an auto update it fails ...

then quit it, it does stay as the default icon, but upon the 2nd launch
it does change to the custom icon. On rare occasion I've seen it take 3
relaunches, but it's rock solid aft...
