What’s up good people?

Thanks for joining the Jamf User Group serving the greater Mid-South / Bluff City area (MS, AR, and TN)! Of course, everyone is welcomebecause let’s be real, folks just want to hang out with the cool kids. 😉

This is my first time running a group like this, so thanks in advance for your patience while I get our meetup schedule locked in. For now, I’m aiming for a meetup on the last Friday of every other month at 7pm CST.
This may change because… well, I have kids. LOL.

A little about me:
My name is Jarred Wheeler (aka Chubs), and I’m a Sr. Infrastructure Engineer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. I’ve been a Jamf admin since 2014 and have attended every Jamf Nation User Conference since then. I spent 15+ years in HigherEd before moving into healthcare. I’ve been using Jamf since the Casper Suite days when the server was the JSS (Jamf Software Server). Fast-forward to today, and I pretty much live in Jamf’s glorious API. 😊

Since I know most of you already—but you may not know each other—let’s kick this off simple and fun.
Drop the following in the group to introduce yourself:

  • Name

  • Title

  • Where you work

  • Something fun or unique about you or your background

IT folks come from all kinds of unexpected paths, and I love hearing those stories—so be real, open, and honest.

I’m looking forward to meeting you all and building this community together!

Good evening folks,

My name is LaVaire Lockhart Jr. and I’m a Endpoint Systems Administrator II at the University of Memphis. I’ve been working professionally in IT for 10 years; however, I have been tinkering with computers since grade school. The majority of my experience is with Windows; however, the University of Memphis is my first job with using an MDM with Apple devices. A fun fact about me is I’m musically inclined. I can play 2 instruments quite well but I’m skilled, or know some tricks, across 6 in total currently.

I’m happy to be here, looking forward to learning something new tips and tricks, and learning more about others using Jamf around the Memphis area.

Hello everyone,

My name is Roland Handy, and I am a Senior Desktop Support Specialist at Rhodes College. I have been working in IT for 14 years, mostly in higher education.  I have been a Jamf admin at Rhodes for over 6 years. One interesting fact about me is that I am a certified scuba diver.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone and learning more about your experiences with Jamf.

Hi everyone.

My Name is Shane Maddox. I have been in IT for 13 years. Before that I was primarily a carpenter for 17 years. I am currently a Systems Administrator for Union University in Jackson TN. I’ve been working with Jamf a little under two years. I don’t get to spend much time in it as I would like. We are a small department so much of my day is in break/fix. My Jamf deployment is not where I would like it to be so I hope to gain knowledge from some of you seasoned Apple MDM managers in “doing more with little”.

One interesting fact about me is I once built a 1:85 scale replica of the Twin Towers with canned food for an event to support RIFA. It included the smaller buildings around it and the city streets that outlined it.
