Hi yall. I was accepted to give a talk at JNUC this year! It was the only way I was going to be able to go due to all the changes this year.

But is anyone else going too? Anyone want to go to Casa Bonita together?! I’m so excited that I get to go to Casa Bonita without having to drive 10 hours lol

Congrats on getting to talk at JNUC!  Huge accomplishment in itself.  Depending on how far away from where we are staying it is - I might be able to join.

What's so good about Casa Bonita?  I'm from Canada and have never heard about it, but more than a couple of people have mentioned that as a must-do.  Looks like a Mexican restaurant but nothing pops out to me.  Interested to hear what makes it so special.

Cool! It seems to be a 15 minute drive from the convention center. So a quick Uber.

Its been mentioned on south park more than a number of times throughout its run time on tv. Then the creators ended up buying it to save it and turned it around to have better food and keep the experiences. Since Im a fan of the show it hits home slightly different.

Besides the South Park references is there anything else that sets it apart?

Congratulations @Michael-Lopez , that's great!!!  Currently I'm planning to be there as well, but am not presenting.

I hear Casa Bonita reservations are booked way out already, but I'd be game to try!

My friends had their wedding reception there and it is every bit as kitschy as South Park makes it out to be.  Food was... decent, but not great "Mexican" fare.  This was also well before Trey Parker and Matt Stone bought it so I can't speak to how it is now.  I'd presume they didn't touch a whole lot other than maybe the menu.

Thanks, it’s a bit nerve wracking but I’m sure it will be fine. Maybe… Great! The reservations are open now till September. I check weekly so once I see it open for October I’ll reply back here to see if anyone else wants to go.

Yeah, I had some major nerves before my first presentation.  (Not so much the second, because it was a group project.) You'll do great!

Hey everyone, the reservations are open for Casa Bonita through January 2026. I am currently in queue and its a hour wait. I am going to get a table for 4 or 5 people just in case I can. Please dont be pressured to go mostly doing a larger party just in case.
