Lets Get This Started!

Hello and Welcome to the New Raleigh Apple Admins User Group

Considering what a huge technology presence we have in the Triangle, I was surprised to see that there wasn't already an existing group. Well there is now!

My name is George Zervoudis and I'm an IT Engineer working remotely in the area. I've been a Jamf admin for over 3 years and am a big fan of Jamf and their products. I'd love to connect with other Mac Admins and IT professionals in the area to talk about pain points we're experiencing, successes\failures, do some networking, and just cut loose for a bit.

If you're looking for a local group to join, this is it! I'll be hosting meet ups in the Raleigh area with the help of Jamf where we can talk shop, complain about the pollening, or discuss what your Cook Out tray looks like and why everyone else's is wrong.

So please pass the message along to any IT admins who might be interested in a meetup like this, ideally on the Mac side of things and using Jamf (but if not that's cool too).

Feel free to connect or shoot me a message on LinkedIn.

Thanks and looking forward to getting this thing started!

@GeorgeZ Hi I am in the triangle area and have been a Jamf Admin since the Casper days.  I work for a large university in Raleigh, NC and would love to join in on any meetups you host.  I can also spread the word in the university community.  Do you have a communication group (slack, email, etc)  I can advertise for folks to join?

Hey @ega, I was currently using an existing NC channel in the Mac Admins Slack but it might be a good idea to have our own space within there. I've just created #raleigh-apple-admins and have left it open to the public.

Please do spread the word, the more the merrier! I'll be posting more info soon as I've just got this started off the ground this week.

Interested! I am a Jamf and WorkspaceOne/Omnissa engineer working remotely near Chapel Hill. I started with Casper about 15 years ago. Five years working on WorkspaceOne. Currently migrating nearly 10k iOS devices and 20+ configurations from Omnissa to Jamf, and been a team of 1 for the last 3 months.

Woah, that's impressive @alfordd! I'm sure there would be a few people who'd love to pick your brain on how that migration is going, myself included.

As I mentioned above, I just created a slack channel in the Mac Admins Slack -  #raleigh-apple-admins - join up if you'd like! I'll provide updates here and in the channel as well.

@alfordd We are looking at doing a Jamf > Jamf move ourselves.  Might be a good topic for a meetup.

Hey, Thanks for setting this up. I work for a financial advisory firm in north Raleigh. I've used Jamf since it was Casper 7 but have always been a general support person so never got into scripting and such. The company I just joined is going to send me to my first JNUC this year, so pretty psyched for that.

Hey @Holmium, a few of us will be attending JNUC this year as well! I went last year for the first time and had a blast. You're going to learn A LOT and make so many connections to help you work on any projects in the pipeline.

@Holmium you will love JNUC lots to learn there both in the sessions and in the halls.

Yeah, I've wanted to go for so many years but last company wasn't willing to pay for it. I loved it when they had digital setup during covid lockdowns but less socializing then.

Hey @GeorgeZ I work at Pendo in downtown Raleigh and would love to be part of a meetup and maybe even partner with you to host one in the future.

That would be great! I'd definitely be happy to partner up. Let's schedule some time soon to chat if you're up for it.
