Imaging - installing both Adobe CS4 and Adobe CS5 (possible?)

We have been rolling out computers with Adobe CS5, no issues.

We were just asked to add Adobe CS4 to the computers as well.

We tested installing both together at imaging time, but didn't have success. Is anyone doing this now?

I read the docs, so we have Adobe CS4 in JSS as prescribed by JAMF. Just not having luck installing both at imaging time.

    Try installing both with CS4's priority set to install first.

    We don't normally run more than one version, but we have machines that didn't have the previous version removed by accident and as far as I am aware, both versions are functioning.

    Hi Sean,

    Yep, tried that. :) We did some testing to make sure we covered all bases. Our test Macs have large drives, so we're able to partition the heck out of them. So we were able to image each partition including the Adobe stuff kicking in after reboot. We have these 4 test packages...

    a. AdobeCS4DesignPremium - made following JAMF guidelines (drop ISO into JSS)
    b. AdobeCS4DesignPremium_minus_Acrobat9 - same as "a" but excludes Acrobat Pro 9
    c. AcrobatPro9 - follows JAMF's guidelines
    c. AdbeCS5DesigPremium - AAMEE generated, includes all updates, excludes AIR, all suppression enabled

    Tried these four tests, each on a freshly imaged partition...in the order outlined. Each was set up to image the computer, followed by reboot, followed by JAMF install of the Adobe stuff:

    1. AdobeCS4DesignPremium > AdbeCS5DesigPremium (CS4 apps crash)
    2. AdobeCS4DesignPremium_minus_Acrobat9 > AdbeCS5DesigPremium (CS4 apps crash)
    3. AdobeCS4DesignPremium_minus_Acrobat9 > AcrobatPro9 > AdbeCS5DesigPremium (CS4 apps crash)
    4. AdobeCS4DesignPremium > AcrobatPro9 > AdbeCS5DesigPremium (CS4 apps crash)
    5. AdobeCS4DesignPremium (all is good)
    6. AcrobatPro9 (all is good)
    7. AcrobatPro9 > AdobeCS5DesignPremium (all is good)

    Each of the packages installs fine by itself (#5 and #6). No issues with current config being used for several hundred Macs so far (#7).

    Since we're unable to do concurrent install at imaging time, we gained agreement with the department, so we install AdobeCS4DesignPremium now to get the Macs deployed. Then we have 2 months to work out a way to get AdobeCS5DesignPremium deployed...whether via JSS push or via manual install by a tech. Obviously the later is undesirable, but it's going to be our next test to make sure at least that works. Then we'll get with Adobe to see if there's an issue with AAMEE generated CS5 packages causing CS4 to break.
