how to change the desktop background on macbook air

Hi Everyone, i am curious if i can change the desktop background on macbooks and mac airs . how will it work for Machines on maverick and yosemite and also machine which have been upgraded from maverick to yosemite. as the locations of the files are different. thanks for your help .

The location of files changed for Mavericks, but I don't recall having to change policies/scripts to deploy this for Yosemite.

You can set it via a Config Profile under Restrictions > Desktop
