We don't print…digital world, who needs paper?

While listening to an hp presentation (mostly thinking the whole idea of a iPad is to be a portable dynamic paper replacement) I did pick up on that is not as simple as enabling your existing printers/print servers and could be costly.

Hi Matt,
Essentially it seems airprint is just specially crafted Bonjour service records and a print server that can have PDF's (such as CUPS)
I found the following quite an interesting read, and would be a good base if you wanted to roll your own:

You can use the dns-sd utility to advertise your own bonjour services on a Mac, and unicast bonjour is an option if you need to advertise over multiple subnets.

Hey now that's pretty dang cool! We're in the process of standardizing our multi-function devices throughout the buildings so it would probably be fairly easy to hook this onto our print server and offer this service should we roll out iPads.
