I do not think I am doing anything differently than before, but I am attempting to switch my printers from IP addresses to DNS names and for some reason when I push it out some systems are getting this error while trying to print(see attachment). The drivers have not changed so I am pretty sure that is not the problem. Anyone ever experienced a problem like this?

Lee-

Do you get the same error in a different application?

Any errors dumped into Console? You've got a pretty generic error there that may be hiding something more complex in the background.

Hi Lee,

Is each printer set up with FQDN?

Don

I am actually troubleshooting this same error today as it just came up after imaging computers. Interesting to me, I have found that our image that started life as 10.6.4 and has been continually upgraded works fine with the problem printers dropped on top. However, using my July 27" iMacs that started life at 10.6.8, I have this printer issue every time.

At any rate, I'm in the same boat and I plan to actually start over on the printers (75 printers) and see, after a few, if that makes a difference.

Good luck,

Actually I believe the temporary fix to this issue, outside of running some 10.6.8 updates again, might be found in the link below. This is courtesy of Matt Lee in a July 8th post to this list.

This particular issue was fixed with 10.6.8v1.1 Combo Update. If you have that installed than this fix is not necessary.
