Apps won't open?

Logged a ticket a month ago. Our "systems administrator" has no idea what to do. Thanks anyway.

In that case, you may want to encourage your Systems Administrator to come on here and post about the issue. Forgive us if we're a little suspicious of a student coming on the boards and asking for ideas, since some folks here administer student systems and have had to deal with deceptive tactics before. Unless you're part of a student IT help staff, then I think most folks here would want to discuss things with your administrator directly instead.

perhaps try channeling your frustration through the appropriate channels ie the senior leadership at the school, perhaps get a parents group together and have them petition the leadership in order to force the hand of IT?

I dont think you will find an answer here, suppose we suggest you make some changes to your server or image building practices - if you do not have access to those systems then how would you implement such a fix?

Unfortunately you will need to work with, not against your IT dept. Sometimes you just have to apply pressure from a different front rather than butting heads

Well, you didn't actually state up front (nor your follow up post) you were a media tech. Your post came off very much like a student looking for something. There's a big difference between "I'm not in IT" and "I'm not in IT, but I'm a media tech at the school" Huge difference between those two sentences and would have changed the tone dramatically.
However, I would agree with @calumhunter. Since you can't really do anything from the server side or imaging workflow (I assume) I'm not sure how much anyone here can help you. Heck, if you want to go ahead and unmanage one of those Macs to see what happens, go ahead, but I suspect Casper is not the root cause. It may be a misconfiguration of the product, lack of understanding of how Macs work (by whoever designed the process), or a combination of both, but no matter what it is, its going o be very hard for us to help since a lot of suggestions may lead to "I can't actually do that" from your perspective.

Anyway, sorry for your troubles - that's genuine. It sounds like you have two issues; the technical issue which has a solution waiting to be found, and a human/pride problem in the form of the district IT folks who refuse to seek the help they obviously need in getting this resolved. No-one here can help you with the latter unfortunately. The suggestions from calumhunter are a good place to start though.
