Arrange icons?

Greetings, everyone.

After we install a bunch of software at imaging time, the icons in the
/Applications folder are a mess. Is there anyway to fix that? (I have
tried a few things, such as trying to deploy or delete .DS_Store files, but
it never really worked, and I'm not certain that is where the information is
stored.)

    In fact that's not where that information is stored. My suspicion is that it's stored in the file itself, in a separate fork. I have no idea how to access the data, however. (Or even how to remove it...)
