Barcode Labels

Kevin, we've used the following for quite some time now and they've held up well. Not sure if you need tamper evident, but we do. The company has a TON of options and they'll work with you on getting samples and what not. We use them on all of our units, including iPads, etc.

Uh-oh. It does't look like they offer "print your own" labels. We need to be able to print in house.

I've been using metallic asset tags from Seton - work well enough for typical laptop users.

They make a printer solution, though I haven't tried it:

EDIT: whoops, looks like they just make media for several of the existing DIY printers.

Why do you have to print your own?

We use a pre-ordered set of metallic tags which hold up pretty well. It would be nice to be able to print our own in order to re-tag a device which has had its tag removed. We like to avoid switching out the tag numbers associated to devices.

Barcodes are tied to serial numbers for inventory and the serial number is printed on the barcode tag. We print on an as needed basis.

When I was a Tier 2 tech supporting the shop floor, I found that the Brady MiniMark http://www.bradyid.com/bradyid/pdpv/52041.html?cid=2907 was a popular, reliable label printer at our company. It looks like they have tamper-evident metallic labels as well http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/BRADY-Tamper-Evident-Label-1ANA1?Pid=search. The initial investment would be about $1300, but I believe it would be well worth it.
