I'm trying to make 10.6.8 Comb Update available via Self Service for a select group of testers. However, in testing, I cannot seem to get it to run successfully, and it always shows as failed. I have uploaded the .pkg file that I know works, and run through all the policies as far as I know, but i still cannot get it to go. Any thoughts?

+36Woah, I pulled the trigger too soon on that post back in 2012, sorry. I meant why not host Apple SUS (policy to pull/apply the update) instead of dealing with packages.
+3I do have an internal SUS setup and working. My thought was to have them do it on their own time instead of having their machine reboot in the middle of the day. thoughts?
I did this on a limited basis with the Mavericks upgrade and am just about to email my existing 10.9.1 laptop users to use Self Service and update.
First policy caches the installer/updater, smart group that looks for presence of the cached installer/updater, second policy runs based on membership in that smart group. Works great.
After that, I'd also enforce something as critical as this 10.9.2 update - remind users to log out at the end of the day (or force it, if you're into that) and then scope to that Logout event.
