Nice, so Blue Jeans distributes a DMG containing an "installer" that you double-click to have it install into ~/Applications. Rolled up sleeves and discovered they're sneaking in the PKG behind the scenes.

Spoke to the developer, not sure why they don't just provide their signed/flat PKG installer for distribution.

  1. Launch Console and clear screen.
  2. Double-click "installer" you distribute to consumers on DMG.
  3. Follow path to downloaded signed/flat deployable PKG: /var/folders/xxxxx/xxxxxxx/X/BlueJeans.1.6.153.pkg

Wow. Really? Nice PKG by the way. Flat. Signed. Um, but not too sure about its preinstall.sh script...ala Suspicious Package:

Sent Blue Jeans' support folks a link to this thread. Maybe we can shame them into providing the flat/signed PKG via direct link? Oh, and that empty preinstall.sh script? Might want to remove that. :)

Don

Sorry for the late response, just noticed the latest responses.

The version we last deployed (1.18.15) installs /Applications/BlueJeans.app and /Library/LaunchAgents/com.bluejeans.app.detector.plist.

When we join a BlueJeans call, the app is launched directly. Since it is the enterprise installer, the version has remained the same, and it works fine:

$ defaults read /Applications/Blue Jeans.app/Contents/Info.plist CFBundleShortVersionString
1.18.15

The only issue we see is sometimes a latency issue if we ask BlueJeans.app to dial our desk...no latency issues when all participants dial in directly.

BlueJeans have posted a new enterprise deployment page:

BlueJeans App - Large Scale Deployment

We let them know the older URL should be taken down:

BlueJeans App - Large Scale Deployment

Quick update...BlueJeans has matured nicely in the past year.

Updated deployment URL:

BlueJeans App 2.x - Centralized Deployment

We requested a "Latest update" download URL, and an "uninstall" script...once they provide we'll post here.

@donmontalvo Do you use any videoconferencing rooms in your environment? We've found that App 2.x still doesnt have support for room system pairing and we've haven't been able to find out when its coming, or why it doesn't seem to be included.

@KyleGDG not sure TBH, we receive requests for the app, never got involved in any conference room stuff. Guessing the field techs or support guys handle that stuff.
