can profiles be deployed before first boot?

Is there a means to distribute the scoped configuration profiles for an image, before the first boot?
Without having to embed them directly within image.

    If you are using APNS the devices will need to be enrolled in MDM first so my guess is no.

    In theory, you could use System Image Utility to build a NetInstall or a NetRestore and add the profiles there however SIU is not reliable on what can and can't be added..
