In iPadOS there is a new system app, Phone.

But it doesn’t seem to be blockable using a Profile, since it doesn’t seem to be present in the list of Default Applications.

Has anybody found the same issue? And, more importantly, a solution?

Thanks in advance.

I might have run across what you are looking for in Jamf School. Using the SafeList and Blocklist restriction profile I used the com.apple.mobilephone in the search under App Store apps. Hopefully this is the block you are looking for on your devices.

I tested it on one of my test devices and it didn’t hide or remove the app, but it blocked the app from opening/functioning. Once I removed the block profile, the app worked again.

Let me know if this actually does what you’re wanting.

It shows up as a restrictable app in restrictions.

May have to type in “Phone Apple” for it to appear.

I remember scratching my head on this one.

Thanks a lot for your answer. But I seem unable to find it.

Could you be more specific? Inside a profile, in Restrictions I only see endless options screens (just disabled most Apple Intelligence features, even though our students use A16 iPads) and can’t find any list of restrictable apps.

Thanks in advance.

Configuration Profile>>Restrictions>>Apps>>Apps Not allowed.

com.apple.mobilephone is the Bundle ID.

Mmmm.. maybe you are in Jamf Pro? I am in Jamf School (I used the tag, but didn’t specify it in the message itself) and don’t have those options.

The other option is that the headache I’ve had for several days is preventing me from seeing them.

Thanks for trying to help.

Totally missed the jamf school tag.  I wish I had an instance to assist with things like this.

I added com.apple.MobilePhone and it removed the Phone app on iOS 26.  I also added the “Journal” app (com.apple.Journal) while I was in there.

Thanks for the idea, I’ve also blocked it.
