So, yet another weird quirk I found today...
I just got 100 new hard drives in for 100 Macbooks I have that are out of warranty and all have bad hard drives. I have replaced about 40 HDs today and imaged each machine. 9 times out of 10 the Macbook will come up with the wrong name in Casper Imaging. The weird part is, they are all identifying as the same computer. So every computer that boots up and pulls the wrong name from the JSS is the same computer name every time. All I did was replace the HD in them. Which should not contain any data pertaining to the asset in the JSS database.
So, like every Macbook I netboot to image comes up with the same computer name and auto run data. I have been manually changing the name to the proper naming convention (based on asset tag) and been imaging all day.
1 out of 10 times it will netboot with the new HD and pull up the proper name. Any idea what is causing this?
Thanks,
Tom
