I've followed the whitepage on the JAMF site for setting up CrashPlan, works great. Except I was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to get machines to auto-register and begin that initial backup without the user being forced to login to CrashPlan for the first time.

We're pushing out a few hundred machines this next school year and I figured I could automate this all somehow with casper.

So the process is completely backwards. But yes it is possible.

Go here first and follow the instructions for creating a custom package. http://www.crashplan.com/enterprise/support/doku.php/customize_desktop
- You will want to set the password field to ${deferred}

Once the package is created, take the entire custom folder and move it into /Library/Application Support/CrashPlan/

Build a package which only copies the custom folder in the Library. Set the package to install first before installing CrashPlan.

So I've done that but it doesn't appear to register with the CrashPlan server unless I open up the CrashPlan application.
