download a wifi profile from JSS and manually install on an unamaged device.

It works with a few notes:
1. If the device is unmanaged, you can't use any variables in the profile payload, everything has to be specifically entered.
2. You cannot mark the profile as completely unremovable if you install it manually. You can make it removable using a password however - and just "conveniently" forget the password.

You can install and remove locally via the "profiles" command in the terminal. We have a portion of our network that doesn't allow APNS so we have to install many profiles this way. You can uninstall the profile by noting down the profile ID number string, then removing it via the "profiles" command with a script. I install local config profiles using a pkg with a post install script utilizing the "profiles" command. profiles -I -F /path/to/MobileConfigFile

And how would this profile be removed from an unmanaged mobile device?
When I go to Settings > General > Profiles and Device Management > [PROFILE], the option to remove/delete the profile is not available.

I backed up the device, wiped it, and restored the backup. Unexpectedly, The wifi configuration profile was also restored.
