Is there an easy way to do this to existing 10.6 clients on the network? I am assuming you can script it, or maybe even use MCX?
Distribute the package, perchance? Let me dig up the path, it's on the SL install DVD. We ensure it's loaded (and thus available) on any system we use, and test by distributing/firing up an old PPC app...
It's an pkg in additional installs on 10.6 os media....

Ah yup there it is, guess I will just take a snap shot of that install.
I wish Jamf could use the apple installer on a disk image to configure
such things in Casper Admin, but I am not sure if that is possible.
You shouldn't need to snapshot it. I just drop the Apple PKG file into CA

It's located at /Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages/Rosetta.pkg

Here's a one-liner to tell if it's installed (and the date it was installed):
echo Rosetta installed: $( f=/var/db/receipts/com.apple.pkg.Rosetta; [ -e "$f.plist" ] && defaults read "$f" InstallDate || echo Never )
If you've got your own SUS and your clients pointed to it, it should find it if required also.

My SUS servers are all 10.5.8. In fact everything is 10.5.8 except for these new 500 Macbooks we just got which only run 10.6. I did not want to transition everything to 10.6 because of lack of time of testing. Though, once this school year is over, everything district wide will migrate to 10.6 including the server.
So, it is my understanding that a 10.5.8 SUS will not update a 10.6 client, is this correct?
Correct your SUS has to be running 10.6 to be able to collect and
install 10.6.updates.
