Not directly related to Casper Suite, although Extensis support did claim they've had clients with issues deploying UTC via Casper Suite...

OS X 10.10.2 (and now 10.10.3), UTC 5.0, Creative Cloud 2014 deployed via Casper Imaging (UTC set to install well after CC). Extensis plugins are loaded in CC, UTC app is loaded/logged in but opening InDesign or Photoshop documents does not result in the fonts being activated automatically.

After Extensis said it might be a JAMF issue, ran the uninstall command then restarted, nuked /Library/Extensis, and manually reinstalled the UTC 5 client and re-logged into the server. Still no luck getting fonts to auto-activate.

Just wondering if anyone else out there is using UTC 5 yet.

@RobertHammen not using 5 yet, but whenever I see activation issues I clear the font caches and most of the time that fixes it.

Tried that, among other things. No-go. Going to throw this back to Extensis' lap...

Make sure users have "Activate Fonts Across All Workgroups" checked for their account in UTS. This will enable the users to select either of their workgroups, or "All Workgroups" within the plug-in's menu.

Sometimes checking that option in UTS does not bring back the "All Workgroups" menu within the plug-in menu. If users see their workgroups listed but not "All Workgroups", there is a defaults command you can push to bring back that menu item.

Check out this link

If this is the issue (missing "All Workgroups" in the UTC menu list), and enabling that option for the user in UTS, and having the effected user log out of and back into UTC, I can try to dig up the defaults command to push out and bring back that item.

PS, @RobertHammen and I had a Twitter exchange, this may not fix his issue, but posting in case it can help someone else.

Here are the commands I posted to the Extensis forum. For obvious reasons (forum members possibly getting confused), we removed it. Hope it helps...

PROBLEM: Users don't see InDesign > Type > Universal Type Client > Select Workgroup > All Workgroups option, instead they have to toggle between 2 workgroups. This results in some required fonts not auto-activating because the required font is in a group that is not selected. We checked their preferences using defaults command and found CurrentWorkgroup set to 3 which is one of our workgroups:
$ defaults read /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.extensis.FontManagement.plugins.InDesign.plist CurrentWorkgroup
“3”
By changing the value to -2, this enabled the All Workgroups option, you explained -2 is a set value for that option:
$ defaults write /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.extensis.FontManagement.plugins.InDesign.plist CurrentWorkgroup -2
$ defaults read /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.extensis.FontManagement.plugins.InDesign.plist CurrentWorkgroup
"-2"
User quits InDesign and now they see InDesign > Type > Universal Type Client > Select Workgroup > All Workgroups and they select it, and now all fonts auto-activate.

I suggested Extensis put up a P1 forum for these kinds of things, maybe I'll soften up Chris Meyer with beer the next time he comes through the area. :D
