I came across this 'MediaManagementAllowedMedia' 'Deprecated' information on Apples Developer pages https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/mediamanagementallowedmedia?changes=latest_minor#discussion

Am i reading this correctly? That the MDM framework will just no longer support external media restrictions as of Big Sur?

Strange move if so....wondered if anyone had any insight or context :)

Apple has depreciated those keys for their MDM Framework. It appears this was deprecated with macOS 11.0: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/mediamanagementallowedmedia

Just wanted to add some additional testing notes:
I have two types of external media that I tried:

Transcend USB3.1 thumbdrive = both test machines doesn’t detect on Big Sur
Seagate Backup Plus Portable Drive = both test machines dectect on Big Sur and the function of "Read-Only" works

so at least it still works on the portable drive, just not on thumbdrive. Not sure what the difference is however
