Anyone heard if they are planning to fix this or will it stay this way?

Not sure if Server 3.2.1 (which requires 10.9.5) is a fix for this or not...

3.2.1 is not a fix for this.

Tbh, it will probably be fixed with YoYo. :(

Just received this update from our Apple rep:
"iOS 8.0.2 fixes a bug that prevented iOS devices from using OS X Caching Server to download iOS updates. iOS 8.0.2 enables iPad 2 to leverage OS X Caching Server again. A future update to iOS will resolve the issue for all other iOS devices that support iOS 8."
