After editing my dock so it has a specific group of apps, it defaults a blank page and move all the of the regular apps to a second page.
Why would this be?

+6+5When applying a Home Screen Layout profile, it automatically moves any apps that you don't specify a location for to the first page after the last one you have configured (or, in this case, the second page, since I assume you don't have any apps listed on your first page, just the dock.)
Kind of annoying, but that seems to be the way that particular profile works.
