We have our mobile inventory collection set to daily. Can someone tell me if inventory is collected on an iPad even when the screen is off or does it wait for a user to begin using the device?

I'm wanting to see if there is a way to look at inventory to gauge how often the iPads in our inventory are being used. I currently have some in inventory that haven't updated in a few months and I don't know if it's from the devices being plugged in and simply not being used or if they have dead batteries or were wiped.

If its connected to the internet it will report back, if not it won't. It could be disconnected from wi-fi, it could be off, it could have been wiped.

It's also possible for the enrollment to get screwed up. I have a couple hundred iPads that refuse to inventory themselves.

It seems that updating them from iOS 7-something to 8 fixed the problem in many cases.
