Hi all,

So we're trying to get out the latest Java update that fixes the much publicized recent security issues. For 10.7+ there's a clear package to install from the Oracle site. But for 10.6, which I think should come from Software Update, the new version doesn't seem to be available. Am I missing something?

Oracle's Java 7 only runs on 10.7.3 and higher.

For 10.6, Apple has not released an update. The latest Java update is still Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 11: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1573

It's my understanding that this exploit is limited to Java 7. It does not apply to Java 6 so your 10.6 machines should be safe.

There has been conflicting information regarding which versions of Java are affected but CERT's advisory is for Java 7 only. See:

Hope that helps.
