Is anyone running JDS on Linux? What are your thoughts about it? Does it work well?
I am running it on Ubuntu 12.04. It's been very stable and I haven't had any issues with it. The only issue I have had with the JDS deals with the amount of time it takes large packages to fully replicate to the JDS after uploading via Casper Admin. Just have to wait for it to go from the DB over to the JDS and provide the checksum.
Other than that, I am very happy with the JDS.
That's good to hear, thanks for the information!
Quick question steve, do you have a GUI on the server, or are you using SSH for it?
If you are using SSH, how did you download the JDS installer from JAMFNation easily? I tried on a test environment and was given a forbidden error since I wasn't logged on with a session
I use SSH. I download the installer on my Mac, unzip it, and then use scp to copy the installer file over to the JDS. Then I SSH into the JDS and run the installer.
We are working on running it on RHEL 6.5 working out some issues with JAMF.
After going through enabling all the apache modules required. JDS seems to rely on an ethernet connection on eth0 does not seem to look at ifconfig for what is actually available.
