Anyone ever seen an error of "failed LDAP operation for 'authenticate connection' with error 'Local error'" followed by "failed to verify connectivity to <IP address of domain controller> with socket 7" when binding to AD? These come from the opendirectoryd.log file with the log level set to debug.

I know this is over a year old, but will chime in anyway.
Had a 10.8.1 machine that was refusing to bind to AD and throwing that same error.
Turned out the time was off. Once the time was corrected, it bound with no problem.
In the log file, saw it finding the various DCs, then trying each & failing with that useless error message.
