http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1159 (last modified May 20, 2011) shows the Early 2011 MacBook Pro (MacBookPro8,2) laptops are supposed to ship with :

10.6.6 (10J3331a)

But we just received a few dozen brand new Early 2011 MacBook Pro (MacBookPro8,2) laptops that shipped with:

10.6.7 (10J3331a)

Yes, you read that right...the OS version is newer, but the build number matches what's on the KB.

And yes, the DVD that came with it shows the same...

$ cat /Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>ProductBuildVersion</key> <string>10J3331a</string> <key>ProductCopyright</key> <string>1983-2011 Apple Inc.</string> <key>ProductName</key> <string>Mac OS X</string> <key>ProductUserVisibleVersion</key> <string>10.6.7</string> <key>ProductVersion</key> <string>10.6.7</string> </dict> </plist> $

Anyone have any problem imaging these?

PS, I ping'd Apple to let them know KB HT1159 needs to be updated...

Thanks,
Don

I haven't imaged any of these yet myself, but I altered the instaDMG catalog to include all 10.6.7 combo updates and macbook air specific updates and I haven't had a problem yet imaging my test macbook air.

Ran into the same thing, new MacBook Pros running 10.6.7 out of the box. I'm currently constructing a new image. These machines ship with 64-bit kernel enabled, so I'm assuming that's part of the reason why they will not boot from an existing 10.6.6 image, even one updated with the 10.6.7 Combo update.

My images are forked for tb & non-tb.

I hope 10.6.8 should appear over the next month or so & this will unify them.

Regards,

Ben.

Believe it or not. My image I made of 10.6.7 Early 2011 works on everything now. I imaged a computer with Base OS only and updates, made a Composer image of it and added it to my modular image.

Yep, I hate it when Apple forks us. We have one image that works for all Macs except for Thunderbolt MacBook Pros. But that's probably we haven't received any new iMacs yet... :)

We have 80 new ones to roll out, so I should have our image (BaseOS, Restore and NetBoot) updated before I leave today...

10.6.8 has been seeded. I'm under nda & haven't tested it, or looked at anything but the post about it on MacRumors..

But after yesterdays announcement I'm assuming it's needed for icloud (yet another thing to disable... Another convo).

Regards,

Ben.

Interesting.

My asr images are from iMac 27" (no tb) & early 2011 MacBook Pro's.

I've a pre-tb iMac... I'll try my tb image on it tomorrow.

Maybe they made a change??

Regards,

Ben.

I made mine on a 13" Late 2011 with TB. Again just installed 10.6.6 + Late 2011 Combo, Composer Image Packaged it, loaded it into the JSS, added my packages to the modular image, and compiled. I was surprised when someone accidentally used this image to image a 2009 White iMac iSight and it worked! Tried it on a Unibody Macbook Pro and it worked as well.

Have you tried to run "Software Update". I believe I had the same good luck until I tried to update the software on a none tb system. (Though, I could be wrong...)
