+19We have just configured the LDAP connectivity of our JSS to AD, and it works fine.
I was under the impression that when we Reconed new machines or when existing machines checked in, that they would start populating the fields for User Name, Real Name, e-mail, phone etc.
I can do a lookup from a Machines Details > Location > Edit. But I was hoping to capture this automatically. Was I mistaken?

+35Sadly you were wrong. Don't feel bad, a few of us have done it!
To get the ad info I used an extension attribute that queries the dscl for the user & submits it via recon.
I've not got it to hand, but it'll be in the archives.

+24The 'live LDAP lookup' feature is supposed to work but it's known to JAMF that it's broken. The gist is that it's supposed to do an LDAP query whenever inventory is returned that matches your search.
