My experience was different from yours but I'm also using NetBoot, which is specific to my problem.
I uploaded the InstallESD.dmg file into Casper Admin and specified that it was a Mac OS X installer. However, after installing only the Recovery HD partition was active. The Mac OS X partition wouldn't work.
Cam at JAMF said they'd noticed this issue too: https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/discussion.html?id=3733
My testing was with 8.4. I haven't seen anything new in the 8.43 release notes that addresses this.
Hi Kumarasinghe,
Hope you're doing well. I saw this post and thought it may be in regard to the discussion from yesterday. If imaging is actually completing, it sounds to me like perhaps the AppleSetupDone file is not properly in place, and thus you are getting the first time boot welcome screen all Macs get when they are brand new out of the box.
A quick and easy check to see if this is the issue, you can find the machine you imaged in inventory. Click on the auto run link on the right side after you find it in inventory. Once in the auto run window, click on the advanced tab. Towards the bottom you will see an advanced options box. In that box there is a check for "Show Setup Assistant After Reboot." If that is checked, it will show that welcome screen like you are describing.
If it is not checked, try checking it, save, then go back in and un-check it and save and then repeat your work flow. Hopefully, it will fix your issues.
Thanks,
Tom
I can confirm that I'm having the same issue as talkingmoose. Computer is actually booting to Recovery.
