You can display a keychain lock icon in the menu bar and use it to quickly lock or unlock your keychain. In Keychain Access, choose Keychain Access > Preferences. Click General, then click Show Status in Menu Bar.

+21I have a Self Service policy users can run and the lock icon stays there always. The policy only consists of Files and Processes > Execute Command
open /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app/Contents/Resources/Keychain.menuUsers run that and the icon stays.
