I've noticed a strange issue where the user assigned to a Mac (under User and Location) seems to randomly change during a recon.
I'm JamfCloud hosted with a JIM for LDAP connections. My Macs are not AD bound, though we do use NoMAD.
I have the "Collect user and location information from LDAP" box checked under Inventory Collection. I have unchecked the new option "Allow local administrators to use the jamf binary recon very to change User and Location inventory information in Jamf Pro".
I was able to duplicate this issue on my device by doing various reboots/recons while being VPN/NoMAD connected and disconnected - I don't have the sequence down to an exact science yet.
When this issue happens, it seems to replace the currently assigned user with a random one. The random user has never logged onto the device.
Has anyone seen this before?
Can anyone point me in the right direction of how the LDAP attributes get updated during a recon? (Does this traffic go through the JSS/JIM, or does it go directly from the Mac to LDAP, and then to the JSS bypassing the JIM completely?)
