Managed Preferences - Dock Question

Has anyone tried using Jamf's "Managed Preferences" (MCX) to create
individual dock icons? Then create Smart Groups based on a piece of
software that is installed, THEN scope those groups to Managed
Preference Groups that adds the dock icons for the software the Smart
Group are scoped to? I know it might sound nuts, or dare I say... Crazy?

The problem I'm having is when it creates the dock icon, it creates it
in the main dock, then next login, creates the dock icon by the trash
can, so I have two identical icons on the dock. I've been testing this
on a 10.6.2 system. Anyone else run into this?

Thanks,

In this case I would add the Dock Items via Casper Admin's dock features,
not MCX.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like MCX for dock management really isn’t the way to go…
