We are having serious issues with netapp filers and osx specifically in the area of search. Search does not appear to be working at all and users are getting very frustrated. I am wondering if anyone else is having similar issues and possibly knows of a fix. I have tried Extremez-ip reshare and this helps slightly with search however it slows down file performance. I have tried Dave and that is similar.

We have a wide mix of Mac OS X versions and all of our files servers are NetAPP filers. Lately I have noticed that I get no results when searching using 10.7 or 10.8. I don't know when it started. The server admins don't share any version numbers or update schedules with me.

We have had so many issues with NetApp that we ended up changing our entire infrastructure. They have no real answers for any issues and they basically will tell you they have limited to no support on Macs. The dog and pony show they put on for us though was quite good.

If I remember correctly, Mountain Lion brought back filename searching on SMB shares (we never got it working in Lion) and it currently works on our NetApp, there is no Spotlight assistance here though, its just like using 'find' in Terminal, pretty basic stuff. We also recommend the Easy Find app to our end users who want a more functional searching and its pretty good, sucks to have to use a third party app to do something so basic though.
